We are thrilled to announce that Ethan won the Gold Medal in the Under-16 (Sub-Junior) Open category at the Commonwealth Chess Championships 2024.
This achievement is especially meaningful because Ethan chose to push himself by playing in the higher Under-16 (Sub-junior) category, even though he was eligible to compete in the Under-14 category. This decision to challenge himself paid off handsomely with a well-deserved Gold Medal in the prestigious Sub-Junior Open category, and we’re incredibly proud of his accomplishment!
This is not the first time Ethan has experienced success at the Commonwealth Chess Championships. Back in 2022, when he was 11, Ethan won Gold in the Under-12 category. Winning again at 13, in a higher category, is a big step forward in his journey.
The Commonwealth Chess Championships 2024 were organized by The Chess Federation of Sri Lanka on behalf of FIDE and The Commonwealth Chess Association and FIDE, from 28th August to 5th September, in Sri Lanka.
This achievement marks Ethan’s 9th Gold Medal and his 16th overall for India.
